WAC - A race to forget — but tomorrow is another day!
Having left their base this morning for the planned final day of the Qualifying Series with a burning desire to move on to the Series Finals, the women of the Orient Express - L'Oréal Racing Team returned this evening tired after a long day of waiting and a bad result to their name in the only race of the day.
Mother Nature was capricious and made a mockery of the weather predictions, forcing the Race Directors to modify their plans on several occasions.
Tomorrow morning the possibility remains that, with three races in better weather conditions, they can still win a coveted place in the four-race Series Finals, which will take place later in the afternoon from 14:10.
Manon Audinet, skipper and trimmer, said: "It was a difficult day in marginal conditions with little wind and a lot of sea. We couldn't find our rhythm. There were quite a few stop-and-gos in the race. After that, we waited on the water for a while in the hope of getting some thermals, which never came. It was a day and a race to forget!"
Tomorrow though is a new day! A determined Manon added: ‘We'll be setting off again tomorrow in different conditions. Potentially, we can do 7 races if we're good in the first 3! We'll stay on our toes."
